I did a fair few time trials a few years ago. I did all my best times in late 2001, as follows:

5 miles: 11:06 - this was in the club 5 on 6th September 2001. Apparently it was a course record for four minutes (or just under presumably) before Richard Bradley brought it down to 10:48. See Awheel issue 633, October - November 2001, page 10 for more details.

10 miles: 20:50 - this was in a Waricks club 10 in July or August 2001, on the old K37, before the traffic lights went up on the motorway junction. I seem to recall that I was second behind Richard Bradley (again!) who did a very long 19, 19:57 or someting like that.

25 miles: 53:28 - this was in the Rockingham CC 25 on the Ranby course on 22nd September 2001. I came about 11th. Julian Ramsbottom won the event in 49:40.

There's also a bit about these rides in Awheel issue 633, on page 39, although the event details for my 25 pb are wrong (the time is right though).

Hope this helps.

Hello Ree78.....I suppose those times aren't too bad Wink Is this a potential return to the sports top flight !!
Did you record the time you did for the 4-up when they all sat on you for 30 miles. ? Smile

Well I have always meant to start riding properly again at some point, it's just a case of finding the motivation to do all the training I guess. I've been doing a bit of riding recently, nothing serious, just the odd ride now and then, but if I keep it up I might give a couple of club events a go.

As for the 4 up, I can remember the event but not the details. Fortunately I kept all the Cycling Weekly's with my name in, so after a bit of ferreting...

Birmingham CC 50km TTT, 7th April 2002, Solihull CC (R. Lewis, B. Richards, N. Roberts, R. Eason) 1:11:49. We were 5th, Hinckley CRC won in 1:09:05.

John it's not the day that is "float" it's the rider that floats in the traffic suction, 52-07 for a sixth place says it all. In the 60s we had to ride at 6 am without traffic and my 53-48 was most likely 2 mins ahead of the 2nd placed rider. TTs are great fun but times done in traffic must be taken with a pinch of salt.
