SOLIHULL C. C. MEMORIAL RIDES

SUNDAY 3rd JUNE

All rides start from the SCOUT & GUIDE HUT, Shadowbrook Lane, Hampton in Arden, B92 0DQ
(OS Sheet 139, Grid Ref SP203812) Full details on “Solihull Cycling Club” website

PARKING – There is a large car park available which is also used by others wishing to use the facilities. Please park considerately, if possible please cycle to the event or car share.
WARNING - CAR PARK HEIGHT BARRIER - 2.1 m
Light refreshments will be available at the start from about 7.45 am, and at the finish, included in the entry fee.
KINETON VILLAGE HALL - this will be staffed by club members giving out free food and drink to the 112 km & 155 km riders

BEGINNERS RIDE - 50 km - 9.15 am
A gentle ride for those who enjoy cycling the shorter distances. It will be led by Alan Thomson. Visiting “Hatton Country World” for a mid-morning break before returning to Hampton in Arden. Entrance fee £3

LEAFY LANES OF WARWICKSHIRE - 112 km - 9.00 am
GPX and TCX files – These are in two stages, you will need BOTH for whichever format you choose to use.
Download them here: http://solihullcc.org.uk/routes/100km_SolihullMemorialRides.zip
Route sheets also available on line and on the day. Entrance fee £5.

Stage 1 – A gently undulating route from Hampton in Arden using lanes where possible to Norton Lindsey, Hampton Lucy and Loxley. A short climb out of Loxley heading towards Butlers Marston and the mid-morning break at Kineton Village Hall

Stage 2 – A not too demanding run from Kineton across to Northend. Skirting the bottom of the Burton Dassett Hillls, with a fine view of the beacon on the highest point. Then cycling through Bishops Itchington, Harbury, Offchurch, and Leek Wootton to return to the Scout and Guide Hut at Hampton in Arden.

A WANDER TO WICKHAMFORD - 155 km - 8.30 am
GPX and TCX files – These are in stages, you will need all THREE for whichever format you choose to use.
Download them here: http://solihullcc.org.uk/routes/150km_SolihullMemorialRides.zip
Route sheets also available on line and on the day. Entrance fee £5.

Stage 1 – Follows the same route as the “LEAFY LANES OF WARWICKSHIRE” to Kineton Village Hall for the mid-morning break

Stage 2 – On leaving Kineton it takes a new route following the edge of the Cotswolds, rather than climbing them, passing through Oxhill and Idlicote to Mickleton. From there it is a section of quiet B road to Willersey, and then to the Wayside Farm Shop & Tea Room at Wickhamford for a lunch break. (Please support the café).

Stage 3 – A steady ride along not too undulating lanes, through the villages of Badsey, Welford, and Binton, then more familiar lanes back to Hampton in Arden, using a different route to that taken in the morning.

IMPORTANT NOTES – Most of the route uses quiet country lanes where possible. There are a few short stretches of main road. Please ride with care and consideration to other road users.
Mudguards are suggested for the benefit of café proprietors and other riders.
You are advised to carry a lock to secure your bike outside village halls/cafe.

Please e-mail saying which route you are planning to ride, to help with the catering arrangements. If you are able to help with the refreshments at Hampton in Arden at the start or finish of the rides for an hour in the morning or afternoon please get in touch.

Have a great, safe ride. Trevor Wale 01926 499460 trevorwale2@gmail.com
