|My name is James McKendry, I am a PhD Student at the University of Birmingham.
Following on from the previous success of recruiting through this extraordinary group of individuals i wanted to get in contact again.
I am undertaking a research project investigating the effect that the continuation of lifelong exercise has on the ability to build muscle, and to determine the extent to which it is preserved when compared with individuals of the same age that have led a much more sedentary lifestyle.
I am hoping to recruit individuals from two different populations, Master athletes (specifically endurance athletes over the age of 60), and older habitually active individuals not partaking in any structured exercise training.
The study requires a very small time commitment involving 4 visits to the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham for the testing of muscular strength, body composition alongside blood, saliva and muscle biopsy sampling.
Individuals will be reimbursed for the time commitment involved in the study.
I have attached a participant information sheet and the recruitment poster to this email.
I look forward to hearing from you.
