A cyclist has died in a collision with a Porsche in a country lane.
The 51-year-old man was in collision with a Porsche Boxster travelling in the opposite direction, just before 12:00 GMT on Saturday in Eastcote Lane, Solihull.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed.
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released. Investigations are ongoing.
Det Sgt Paul Hughes from West Midlands Police said: "This is an extremely tragic incident for all involved," and has appealed for anyone with relevant dash-cam footage to get in touch.
Tragically the rider involved is a member of our club - Tony Satterthwaite.
Although I didn't know Tony my thoughts and prayers go to his family at this terrible time for them.
RIP Tony _________________ Before you run me off the road just remember that I look after the club funds --- !!!!!!!!!!

That's terrible. My wife and I were overtaken on Friday Lane by the ambulance that attended - didn't realise it was for Tony. He will be missed at the MC&AC time trials next year. RIP mate. _________________ this week, I shall be riding with the aim of competing in more time trials this year than I managed last year i.e. one |

Had read this news on BBC yesterday and had feared it may have been a club member.
This is a dreadful tragedy. Thank you for posting the information Phil.
Condolence to Tony's family. |
