*** Jack Rootkin Gray 6th at Junior National RR ***

*** David Fellows Equals Course Record at Club 10 Champs ***

As weeks go in racing, we haven't had such a quiet one for quite a while at Solihull CC.
However as the summer holidays kick in the youth racers start to rest up for the Cyclocross season, the testers start to draw their racing season to a close & the veteran racers are obliged to take their families on holiday.

I only have two races to report for you this week.

On Thursday evening Solihull hosted the second of our Club Time Trial Championships. This time around it was the turn of the 10 mile Champs. Held on the fairly underused course, the K36/10, on Broad Lane just south of Earlswood, because our usual Knowle course was out of action due to pesky roadworks. 14 riders faced the timekeepers in searing 30 deg heat. David Fellows & Penny Wilkin were crowned club champions in times of 20.53 & 27.24 respectively. Davids time of 20.53 equalled the Course Record, this may not seem like a quick time but this is excatly the reason why this course is fairly underused. Whats all the more impressive is the joint CR is held by a rider form Ribble Pro Cycling. Other winners on the night included Nathan Edensor, who hit his red line around 200 meters too early but was still crowned Schoolboy 10 Champ. Mike Pridmore-Wood who is the new Road Bike Champ & Eddy Priddy Who once again is the Veterans champ.
With Solihull CC only hosting one more time trial this year, the 5 mile championships, The club would like to thank Steve Mountford, the Time Trials Secretary, & his team of helpers for a fantastic set of events this year. The helpers includeResident Holder upper Rob Hampton & Time Keepers Alison Mountford, Dave Homer & Trevor Bayliss. Thanks from all the competitors for all your help this year in making these events a success.

On Sunday Jack Rootkin Gray Raced in the Biggest National Junior Road Race Event of the Year, The National Championships. Held just south of Lincoln the event took place over 7 laps on a course that was pan flat & had the finish in a town called Bassingham. Jack got into a break with 20 others with 4 laps to go they held their 2 minute advantage for the rest of the race. Jack managed a decent sprint to finish 6th especially considering the course was not favourable for Jack & a lot of jokes were made about how flat the course was, but I guess that's just teenagers...
Jack is straight off to assen in Belgium to race a stage race this week so we are wishing him the best!

Hopefully I can bring you a more diverse set of results next week!

If I have missed anyone out please get in touch via the message option on the Facebook page.

Well Done All!
