GPX and TCX files – These are in two stages, you will need BOTH for whichever format you choose to use. Route sheets also available on line and on the day. Entrance fee £5.
Stage 1 – A gently undulating route from Hampton in Arden using quiet lanes to Snitterfield, Wilmcote and Welford to cross the River Avon. After a short climb out of Welford a flat route to Pebworth for the mid-morning break at the Village Hall
Stage 2 – A not too demanding run from Pebworth across to Bidford, to re-cross the River Avon. Then cycling through The Grafton’s to Haselor and Great Alne. The route then follows narrow lanes through Ullenhall and Danzey Green with a few small climbs to Knowle to finally finish at the Scout and Guide Hut in Hampton in Arden.
“THE HERB RUN” - 150 km - 8.30 am
www.solihullcc.org.uk/routes/HERB_RUN.zip
GPX and TCX files – These are in stages, you will need all THREE for whichever format you choose to use. Route sheets also available on line and on the day. Entrance fee £5.
Stage 1 – Follows the same route as the “THE PEBWORTH TRAIL” to Pebworth Village Hall for the mid-morning break
Stage 2 – On leaving Pebworth the route follows the edge of the Cotswolds to Shipston on Stour. It then gets a little more challenging as it climbs past Compton Wynyates Manor House to the top of the ridge. From there it follows the top of Edge Hill to “The Herb Centre” near Warmington on the B4100 for a lunch break. (Please support the café).
Stage 3 – On leaving the “The Herb Centre” a sharp descent through Shotteswell, then an undulating route through Farnborough, Bishops Itchington to Harbury. Then more familiar lanes via Offchurch, Cubbington, and Beausale back to Hampton in Arden, using a different route to that taken in the morning.
IMPORTANT NOTES – Most of the route uses quiet country lanes where possible. There are a few short stretches of main road. Please ride with care and consideration to other road users.
Mudguards are suggested for the benefit of café proprietors and other riders.
You are advised to carry a lock to secure your bike outside village halls/cafe.
Please e-mail saying which route you are planning to ride, to help with the catering arrangements. If you are able to help with the refreshments at Hampton in Arden at the start or finish of the rides for an hour in the morning or afternoon please get in touch.
Have a great, safe ride. Trevor Wale trevorwale2@gmail.com |
