On Saturday, at Darley Moor motor racing circuit, Adrian Byrne & Lee Forrest Raced in the LVRC National Criterium Championships. As is usual with Darley Moor the winds were really strong. Adrian raced in the B race Which saw an early break of 3 get up the road. The average speed remained high & the bunch caught the break with 3 laps to go. Adrian got boxed in on the last chicane & finished in the Bunch. Lee raced in the C race & also managed a bunch finish.
The day after Aerocoach hosted the Midland District 10 Mile TT Championships. On a course just south of Alcester; out & back from Salford Priors along the A46. The wind was very strong on the return leg but unusually for August in 2019 it was Dry! Steve Mountford, fresh off holiday set a decent time of 24.23 which he was pleased with all things considered. David Fellows Finished in 4th place with a time of 19.58 which was 5 seconds off the podium & which is a new club record!
Over the whole weekend Jack Rootkin Gray Raced in the Boucles de L'oise Juniors 3 stage race just East of Paris. Stage 1 was a 120km Road Race in which Jack initiated the winning move Bringing 6 others with him but unfortunately lost 30 seconds to the winner after a fall inside the last 5km. The next day in the morning was an Individual Time Trial, a discipline where Jack excels. He finished in 3rd place & his efforts moved him up to 2nd on GC. In the afternoon it was the 3rd & final stage – a 80km road race. Jack held onto his GC position & finished 2nd overall. Another Great result from a superstar of the future!
On Tuesday the Hill Climb season started for a trio of Solihull Riders. Richard Burt, Kit Buchanan & David Fellows all raced at Maxstoke Hill in the Royal Sutton Club Hill Climb. Maxstoke - a 2Km Climb with varying gradient & an average of 4% which may not sound like much but has ramps of up to 15% & a downhill finish. David Won in a time of 3.46 which was just 4 seconds of the Course Record. Kit was 3rd with 4.04 – a 10 second Pb on this course. Richard was 30 seconds faster than the time he set in April. All very promising for the Season ahead.
Well Done to everyone who raced this past week!
